Application Redesign/Refresh. To avoid the trap of creating a more aesthetic application that isn’t any more usable, I like to start a product redesign with an objective usability evaluation. This is to ensure we don’t recreate design mistakes and to inform decisions when best practices have to contend with personal opinions.
After the evaluation, I performed a content audit to better understand the different areas of the application and the intended uses of each.
From there I worked iteratively with team members and leaders to gain an understanding of the needs, goals, and preferences of the stakeholders and end users. The result was a complete interactive prototype using Figma that was tested, iterated, and sharpened in a fraction of the time it would have taken to develop a functioning and testable application.
